Merriam Webster defines ethics as 'the rules of behavior based on ideas about what is morally good and bad.'
Every day we use sets of values and principles, ideas and standards to guide us. Those that practice jurisprudence, the science or philosophy of law, are guided by a complex set of ethical rules. The Honorable Stephen J. Sfekas, Maryland Humanities Council Board member and Circuit Court Judge for Baltimore City, reflects on the four codes of ethics that inform those practicing law today.
