Midday Candidates' Week: Brown

Lt. Governor Anthony Brown is the clear front runner in the Democratic race for Maryland governor. Ahead of next week’s gubernatorial primary, polls show him leading his nearest rival by a margin of 2 to 1. Brown’s resume includes eight years in the governor’s office, a tour of duty in Iraq as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, and eight years in the Maryland General Assembly representing Prince George’s County. If Brown were to be elected, he would become the state’s first ever African-American governor—and the first lieutenant governor ever to ascend to the state’s top spot.
