December 16, 2014 - Radio Kitchen - Christmas Tree Farms
There are lots of things that Maryland farmers grow during the year, and with one exception, it's all edible. But come December there is another crop that our farmers offer that may not find a place at your table, but it may be the center of your holiday home. We're talking about Christmas trees and other holiday decorations that come from our friends down on the farm.
We spoke with Ben Butler from Butler's Orchard in Germantown, a year-round farm operation that switches from produce to Christmas trees in December.
You can visit them online at www.butlersorchard.com.
Butler's grows White Pine, Douglas Fir and Canaan Fir and offers them on a cut-your-own basis for very affordable prices. While you're visiting, check out selection of wreaths and hand made decorations.
