Opioid Drug Abuse; Spring Film Festivals & Film Censorship; "The Illusionists" At The Hippodrome

We’ll start with this month’s edition of our Healthwatch series with Dr. Leana Wen, the Baltimore City Health Commissioner. Earlier this week, she was at the National Prescription Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit with President Obama and others. We’ll talk about what’s being done in Baltimore and beyond to stop the scourge of addiction.

Then, our Movie Mavens, Jed Dietz of the MD Film Festival and Ann Hornaday of the Washington Post, weigh-in on spring film festivals, and what’s hot and what’s not in theaters this weekend. And historian and filmmaker Joe Tropea on the notorious Censor Board, and how for decades, it affected the fate of many films.

Theater Critic J Wynn Rousuck conjures up her review of The Illusionists at the Hippodrome Theater.

Host, Midday (M-F 12:00-1:00)
