Protective Orders; 'Selfies' by Raoul Middleman, Bhopal Disaster

Raoul Middleman, Self Portrait, oil on canvas, 1983

Judges in different parts of Maryland, under the same state law, grant protective orders at dramatically different rates. Why? We ask Laurie Duker, Executive Director of Court Watch Montgomery, which monitors courts in that county, and Chief Judge John Morrissey of the District Court of Maryland.

Then – Painter Raoul Middleman has created around a thousand self-portraits during his 50-year artistic career. Several hundred of them show in the exhibit that opens today at MICA. Tom Hall talks with Middleman about the art of the self-portrait.

Plus: An industrial accident in India that killed thousands thirty years ago has inspired a film, and a screening in Baltimore this weekend. We talk with Sanjay Verma, an activist orphaned by the disaster and Tim Edwards who works as a researcher and information specialist with the International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal.
