The Baltimore Business Journal

XPO Logistics Inc. plans to close its warehouse at the Perryman Logistics Center in Aberdeen in March less than three years after it opened.

The closure will be effective March 18 and result in 167 layoffs, according to a notice filed by Greenwich, Connecticut-based XPO with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. XPO Logistics), a publicly traded logistics subcontractor, employs more than 98,000 people and has more than 50,000 customers. Maryland and Harford County officials expected the warehouse to create several hundred jobs when it opened in 2016. The 571,000-square-foot facility is located at 610 Chelsea Road on close to 50 acres of industrial development near Route 159. Harford County Executive Barry Glassman said another company will likely fill the space in the county’s popular industrial market.
