Wide Angle Youth Media is a non-profit that teaches Baltimore youth media skills, provides opportunities to tell their own stories, and become engaged with their communities.
Through a partnership with WYPR and with additional MHC-grant support, Wide Angle is holding a series of workshops to train youth producers, who will produce audio stories about how physical spaces in cities affect both individuals and community. In the fall, a second group of students will connect via Skype with peers in Cape Town, South Africa, to share the sounds of their neighborhoods. LeRee Simmons, a student participating in the program this summer, comments about what this program means to him. (Photo courtesy of Wide Angle Youth Media)
