Inside Shock Trauma

The Maryland Court of Special Appeals orders a delay in trial of Officer Caesar Goodson, the driver of the police van that transported Freddie Gray. WYPR reporter Kenny Burns has the latest at noon.

Then, the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center on University of Maryland’s Baltimore campus is the busiest such center in the nation, treating more than 8,000 patients annually. A new Discovery Life Channel series documents the life-saving work of Shock Trauma. We’ll hear about “the golden hour” - the narrow window of time physicians have to preserve a patient’s chance of survival - as well as the emotional toll of treating critically injured people.

Our guests: Dr. Jay Menaker; attending physician at STC and associate professor of surgery at University of Maryland School of Medicine; Dr. Brandon Bruns, attending surgeon at STC and an assistant professor of surgery at University of Maryland School of Medicine; Susan Hannah Hadary and John Anglim, producers for MedSchool Maryland Production.
