PBS has a new series that takes a deep look into well-known works of William Shakespeare with renowned actors and directors who have brought his work to life. The series is called Shakespeare Uncovered and airs on Maryland Public Television (MPT) at 10 p.m. on Fridays:

Friday, Janurary 25

- The Comedies with Joely Richardson (video)

- Macbeth with Ethan Hawke (video)

Friday, February 1

- Richard II with Derek Jacobi

- Henry IV and V with Jeremy Irons

Friday, February 8

- Hamlet with David Tennant

- The Tempest with Trevor Nunn

As part of the series, MPT is collaborating with the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) to host roundtable discussions of Shakespeare's plays. Tom Hall talks about the significance of the Bard's work with CSC Artistic Director Ian Gallanar and MPT's Director of Community Outreach Activities Faith Wachter.

The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, based in Ellicott City, will move to the old Mercantile Trust and Deposit Company building on Redwood Street in Baltimore. Their next production, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, opens at The Old Barn in Columbia on February 22nd.
