Where Will the Ravens Players be a Decade From Now?
During the purple celebration yesterday in downtown Baltimore, the camera fell on the face of a man who was standing during Baltimore's last Superbowl win, but was sitting for this one. OJ Brigance played for the Ravens in 2001. He was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, in 2007, and lost most of his muscle functioning. He had a tracheotomy, and uses a machine called a DynaVox to communicate--it allows him to use his eye movements to type messages. Mr. Brigance now works for the Ravens as a Senior Advisor to Player Development. We met him at the Ravens headquarters in summer of 2011, when Tom Hall interviewed him for our series "Living with Lou.
Seeing O. J. Brigance made us wonder where this year’s Ravens players will be in 2023. Are there any players you remember more for what they did AFTER a major championship--than before? Let us know at mdmorning@wypr.org. Or, you know, comment.
