Construction on Owings Mills’ Metro Center remains on schedule. Plans to develop apartments, shops and offices are underway and the massive project is projected for completion by next spring. Meanwhile, nearby Owings Mills Mall is set for major redevelopment and, just a half-mile down the road, another development project is in the works at the former Solo Cup factory, for a 400,000-square-foot complex that would include the coveted grocery store Wegmans. These projects have divided the community and Baltimore County government, with concerns over retail saturation and traffic congestion clashing with ambitions for revitalizing the area. We hear from the developers behind Metro Center and Foundry Row (Solo Cup) and open the phones for listener comment. Guest host: Melody Simmons

Owings Mills 2020 Master Plan

Foundry Row Traffic Impact Study

Proposed Road Improvements for Foundry Row

Too much misinformation

There has been a lot of intentional misinformation about the Foundry Row project at the Solo Cup site in Owings Mills, especially regarding the Baltimore County 2020 Master Plan. The Master Plan specifically names the Solo Cup site on page 66 and says, “Where manufacturing uses are being phased out, work with property owners to evaluate rezoning and redevelopment opportunities to accommodate a mix of employment, retail or residential uses on the site and in the area to help revitalize the surrounding business and residential communities.” The re-zoning proposal is clearly entirely within the scope of the scope of the Master Plan.

Fonderry Row

Owings Mills needs updating, I welcome the Fonderry Row Development and the road improvement. Wegman's has done wonders for Hunt Valley.

I believe it will help raise the housing values in the area too. Jessie in Reisterstown

Why hold back the results of Greenberg Gibbons Traffic Study?

Greenberg Gibbons has done a traffic study, but says it will not release the findings until the property is rezoned and development begins. What are they hiding?? Are there results Greenberg Gibbons doe not want us to see?????

They are hiding the truth...

They are hiding the truth... that the Reisterstown Road/Painters Mill Road intersection is the biggest failure in the State, and will continue to be, despite Greenberg Gibbons' claims to the contrary. Greenberg Gibbons 'contribution' of $7M for road improvements is not nearly enough for a project of this size. The TAXPAYERS will have to cough up the other $10M that will be necessary to do the job right. I would rather my tax dollars be spent elsewhere... on projects the area NEEDS, not another mall-size retail center when there is mall/retail infrastructure already in place LESS THAN ONE MILE away from Solo site. Give me a break, Greenberg Gibbons!
