Media mogul Rupert Murdoch told British lawmakers Tuesday he was not responsible for a phone hacking scandal that has rocked his global empire. He said he was "shocked, appalled and ashamed" at the hacking of the phone of a murdered schoolgirl by his now-shuttered News of the World  tabloid. Meanwhile, two Democratic U.S. senators -- Barbara Boxer of California and John D. Rockefeller IV of West Virginia -- are pressing Dow Jones & Co. to investigate whether any executives played a role in or knew about the U.K. phone-hacking.

As the scandal continues to send tremors through corporate, political and media circles on both sides of the Atlantic, we'll speak with Paul Bolding, who spent 34 years as a correspondent and desk editor with Reuters around the world, including many years in Fleet Street. He lives in London and teaches graduate and postgraduate journalism students at City University. We'll also be joined by Paul Mindus, longtime American journalist, once based in Baltimore, and now a consultant who has been following the News Corp. scandal from London, his home the last 22 years; and Midday contributor Sheri Parks, associate professor of American studies at the University of Maryland College Park, media and pop culture critic.
