***THE SIGNAL AIRS FRIDAYS AT 7 PM AND SATURDAYS AT 1 PM***
This week (July 1 & 2, 2011) on The Signal…
The 2011 Maryland Summer Jazz workshops offer amateur players a chance to jam with the pros, and we talk with two of the camp’s resident talents, vocalist Felicia Carter and upright bassist Amy Shook. We also get a taste of Felicia and Amy’s new CD, “Nothing to Do”.
We meet Joseph Martin of the local performance ensemble Parallel Octave. The group blends poetry, music, improvisation and elements of the ancient Greek chorus to put a modern spin on classic material.
Plus: Fiction writer Eric D Goodman joins us with a story called “Mountain of Sand.” It’s a tale about the limits of luck and the curse of easy fame.
