***THE SIGNAL AIRS FRIDAYS AT 7 PM AND SATURDAYS AT 1 PM***

This week (May 27 & 28, 2011) on The Signal…

When you hear the lush, layered musical arrangements on Wendel Patrick’s new CD, Forthcoming, you want to know how many people are in his band… The answer is surprisingly simple: It’s all one man, Wendel Patrick, and he explains how he makes it happen with nothing but a keyboard and a computer.

Traveling by car was a dangerous proposition African-Americans during the Jim Crow era, especially in the Deep South. But those journeys were made safer by a road guide called The Negro Motorist Green Book.  We talk with Calvin Alexander Ramsey, who’s written a children’s book and a play about that guide.

Plus:  Lasers, fog machines, and face-melting guitar solos – The Baltimore Rock Opera Society is about to throw down the gauntlet with a live theatrical double feature.
