The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) has refused to pay millions of dollars owed to families who lived in lead-contaminated public housing. Children suffered harm, in some cases brain damage, and courts have ordered that they be compensated, but the mayor and housing commissioner say the city cannot afford to pay a bill that in total could reach $800 million. Our guests: Scott Calvert, the Baltimore Sun reporter who broke the story in Sunday's editions; David Albright, an attorney representing dozens of clients, including Antonio Fulgham and his sister, Brittany McCutcheon, who are yet to collect damages despite a jury's finding in their favor last fall; and Ruth Ann Norton, executive director of the Baltimore-based National Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning.
