In the wake of the Aurora movie theater massacre, a look at gun culture and violence in the U.S. Many assert that the media (movies, tv, and video games in particular) contribute to our culture of violence. Or is it our historic celebration of guns and power, in the name of liberty, that leads to these mass murders? And why is it young, white males who perpetrate the majority of mass killings? Guns vs crime
Ask yourself.
Do police prevent crimes before they occur?
No, they take reports AFTER the fact.
Criminals should have to think twice before committing the crime. Is this victim defenseless or not?
That is good for all of us and especially those who will not defend themselves.
gun control
No one is arguing that all guns should be taken away. What gun control advocates would like to see is fewer homicides and incidents of deranged people shooting up public places. So we need to ask ourselves: What laws will create a safer environment? What guns need to be taken away from the general public - who obviously cannot handle them. It is easy to see that we have an excessive amount of guns.
