Illustrator Bryan Collier grew up in Pocomoke, Maryland. He won a Coretta Scott King Award for the picture book Uptown, a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award for his book Rosa, and a Caldecott Honor for Dave the Potter. His illustrations are a combination of watercolor and collage, and a selection of them are now on view at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. The exhibit is called Defining Moments, and is on display through May 26, 2013. More details here.
