More and more shelf space in supermarkets is being given over to "organic foods." And, of course, more and more people are mindful of the pesticides and other chemicals that are found in conventionally-grown, mass produced food. Some scientists at Stanford University recently published a report about the relative benefits of organic versus conventionally-grown food in the Annals of Internal Medicine. It ignited a controversy that led to nearly 3,000 people signing a petition to have the report rescinded.
To explain the argument, and sort out the facts, we turn to Monica Reinagel. She’s a licensed nutritionist from Baltimore, and the host and creator of the podcast Nutrition Diva.
