This segment originally aired June 2, 2009.
The band Dirty Projectors are from Brooklyn, but they’re no strangers to Maryland. Back in 2009, they released the breakthrough album Bitte Orca, hitting Baltimore’s Metro Gallery before the release on the ’09 tour. Their 2012 release, Swing Lo Magellan, is bringing them back to the area tonight and tomorrow night. They’re visiting the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. with Baltimore superstars Wye Oak. (Here's a look at Wye Oak's Civilian.)
In June of 2009, Maryland Morning producer Lawrence Lanahan put together this profile of Dirty Projector’s Bitte Orca, speaking with frontman David Longstreth over the phone about the album and its influences.
Dirty Projectors will be at the 9:30 Club tonight and tomorrow night with Wye Oak. Both shows are sold out, but keep an eye on 930.com to see if that changes.
