On parts of the US Atlantic coast, the rate of sea level increase is three to four times faster than the global average. And new data show that if global temperatures continue to go up, sea levels in our area will keep increasing in the years to come.

To find out why – and what the trends mean for Maryland’s coast – we’re joined by oceanographer Abby Sallenger; he works out of the US Geological Study’s Center for coastal and Watershed Studies in Florida, and he joins us now by phone.
