Rye Rye live; from ryeryemusic.comIn June, Rolling Stone launched a national contest for Women Who Rock. Editors chose six up and coming female artists who perform in a variety of styles and offered fans a chance to vote for their favorite woman who rocks.

The voting ended a week ago Monday.  Two finalists will be announced tomorrow, and they’ll appear in concert in Chicago at the Rolling Stone Rock Room at Lollapalooza this weekend.  One of the six young artists whose fate rests with the voters is Baltimore’s own Rye Rye, a 21-year-old hip-hop artist whose impact on the Baltimore Club scene has been known for some years, and who is now beginning to garner national attention.

Today she talks to Tom about handling success in the music business at such a young age.

Here’s a bit of a track she did with DJ Blaqstarr called "Shake it to the Ground."
