"Pollution diet," "total maximum daily load," "watershed implementation plan" -- What is Saving the Chesapeake Bay for $500, Alex?
You receive the money, but what does it all mean? The Watershed Stewards Academy in Anne Arundel County aims to answer these questions and to inform locals of what they can do to help save the watershed. Suzanne Etgen, one of the founders of the Academy, stops by to tell us all about it, from becoming a steward to supporting other volunteers.
Anne Arundel's Watershed Stewards Academy is currently searching for potential stewards. It's holding several informational meetings over the next four weeks. The next is Monday, August 6th in Millersville. Meanwhile, in case you're elsewhere in Maryland, the Howard County Watershed Stewards Academy will launch this fall--classes begin October 2nd. On the Eastern Shore, a member of the University of Maryland Sea Grant Extension Program is coordinating plans to start an academy.
