48 years ago today, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law.  An exhibit now on display at the Maryland Historical Society explores how that era looked in Maryland.  We discuss it with curator Jenny Ferretti, WYPR’s  Fraser Smith, who has written about the civil rights era; and Dr. Helena Hicks, who was inspired by longtime Baltimore NAACP president Lillie Carroll Jackson to join the movement.

Then, Should film criticism be local? We discuss it with filmmaker John Waters and Jed Dietz of the Maryland Film Festival.
