7-18-12: Gatorade, Goo, or Chocolate Milk?
You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialize correctly.
Whether you're an Olympic athlete, a marathoner, or just thinking about running a couple miles, you're going to need food to fuel your body. But what should you eat? When, and how much? Lots of extra carbs, or just the regular amount? Is gatorade worth the purchase?
Tom Hall talks with the Nutrition Diva Monica Reinagel about the best food for athletes to eat. In addition to hearing her on the radio, you can catch Monica's dulcet tones and nutrition know-how on her podcast.
And speaking of Maryland athletes—we’ve been interviewing a number of Marylanders who will be representing the USA in the Olympics, including Suzanne Stettinius, who’s competing in the pentathlon, and Jessica Long, who’s a Paralympic swimmer. If you know of an athlete in Olympic training, let us know at mdmorning@wypr.org or call us at 410-881-3162.
And you non-Olympians—we want to hear from you, too. If you want to share your story of training for the marathon, for the half marathon, or even your first 5K – let us know. Again, the number is 410-881-3162.
