Beginning with the Class of 2017—those students now entering eighth grade—all Maryland seniors will be required to pass an assessment test in government in order to graduate. It’s part of a new law passed by the General Assembly this past spring.
Sheilah talks about how teachers will prepare for the test -- and social studies currciulum generally--with Rex Shepard, the Social Studies Coordinator for Baltimore County Public Schools and Dan Ritschel, the Director of the Center for History Education and professor of history at UMBC.
Curious to see if you'd pass the test? Check out these sample questions from an old test.
