Sascha Wolhandler of Sascha's 527 brings us some ideas for homemade snacks to enjoy at the ballpark.
Homemade Caramel Corn
- 6 oz . of lightly salted bag of popcorn
- ¼ cup of butter
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- ¼ cup of corn syrup
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of cayenne
Procedure:
Place popcorn in a large bowl. In a saucepan heat your butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, salt , cayenne.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 4minutes. Stir in baking soda, drizzle over popcorn. Place popcorn on baking sheet in 250degree oven for 1 hr. Every 20 minutes stir. When taken out lightly salt to taste for caramel salty taste.
Curry Popcorn
Ingredients:
- 6 ounce bag of lightly salted popcorn
- ¼ cup of melted butter
- 1tablespoon of favorite curry powder
- 1 teaspoon each of ground ginger, cumin, cardomon
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Good pinch of cayenne
Procedure:
Heat oven to 375degrees
Place popcorn in a bowl.
Melt butter and add half of the mixture. Mix. Pour , drizzle over the popcorn. Then add the left over dry spice mix over the popcorn and toss. Add salt to taste. Place popcorn on the baking sheet and place in oven for 3 minutes to dry and heighten spices.
BBQ Parmesan Popcorn
Ingredients
- 1 bag of lightly salted popcorn
- ¼ cup of melted butter
- 1 tablespoon of chile powder
- 1 teaspoon of each of the following, cumin, garlic powder, onion salt, coriander
- Good pinch of cayenne
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Procedure:
Add dried spices to the butter mix, reserving 1/3 of the spice mix. Toss the popcorn with the leftover spice mix
Toss with ½ of the parmesan cheese and salt to taste, Place on baking sheet and place in oven for three minutes. Take out and toss with the rest of parmesan cheese
