This segment originally aired on March 6, 2012.
Even when Laurel Snyder was growing up in Govans, in Baltimore, she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up – someone who write books for children. And that’s just what she does, now that she’s in her 30s. Now she lives in Atlanta–but her books still hearken back to Baltimore. Here, she talks about her novel Bigger Than a Breadbox with Sheilah. She also has a picture book, The Longest Night, coming out in February. It's a retelling of the ten plagues and the Red Sea.
