An estimated one out of every eight older Americans has Alzheimer’s Disease, a type of dementia that affects memory and cognition. There’s no proven way to prevent it, cure it, or even slow it down.
But, now, doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in collaboration with four other medical centers across the country, are testing a new treatment that uses a pacemaker-like device to stimulate brain function.
Paul Rosenberg is Associate Director of the Memory and Alzheimer's Treatment Center at The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He’s leading the trial at Johns Hopkins. He joins us to talk about it.
