10-29-12: Barry and The Bay

The acclaimed Oscar-winning film director, Baltimore’s own Barry Levinson, has a new movie which opens this week. In many of his movies, Levinson keeps Maryland close to his heart. In this one, he offers a chilling scenario about the plight of the Chesapeake Bay. It’s called The Bay, and it tells the story of a small town on the Eastern Shore that suffers a cataclysmic disaster when pollution in the bay is allowed to fester unchecked. It was inspired by a documentary from PBS's Frontline on the Chesapeake Bay.
Barry Levinson will be screening The Bay tonight at the Brown Center at MICA. It opens in theaters on Friday.
