John Waters has written and directed movies. He’s done stand-up comedy. He’s appeared as an actor. He’s written books. He’s worked as a visual artist and he’s an avid art collector. And this week, he will add to his expansive resume the role of being a star of the BSO Pops. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will present a concert version of the John Waters classic, Hairspray. Marissa Perry will play Tracy, Micky Dolenz, formerly of the Monkees, will play her father, and Nick Adams takes the role of Link, along with several other Broadway stars.
It opens at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda on Thursday, January 24, at 8 pm. You can catch it at the Meyerhoff in Baltimore Friday, January 25 through Sunday, January 27. More information--and tickets--available here.
