How do you best grow Baltimore? That was the question posed by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake yesterday in her State of the City speech. We talk about what was in the speech–and what wasn’t–with Mark Reutter of the Baltimore Brew and Adam Bednar of North Baltimore Patch.
Plus, Baltimore city’s infant mortality rate is over 50 percent higher than the national average. The city’s health department wants to bring it down, and it has a program that’s targeting obesity. Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot will tell us what obesity has to do with infant health, and we’ll meet a local mom who’s losing pounds in the program.
And, out on the Eastern Shore, Washington College has launched an new series of exhibitions called ArtNOW that focus on art scenes in different mid-Atlantic cities. We’ll meet Cara Ober and Alex Castro, curators of the current exhibit featuring Baltimore artists.
