In surprise move, Sweeney sentences Leopold to 30 days in jail
Condemning John R. Leopold's behavior as "outrageous," Howard County Circuit Judge Dennis M. Sweeney has sentenced the former Anne Arundel County executive to 30 days in jail plus another 30 under house arrest, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Leopold was convicted in January of ordering his police security detail to take on chores for his 2010 re-election campaign and of directing county employees to perform personal tasks that included draining his urinary catheter bag.
