The former St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson and its parent company will pay $4.9 million in relation to allegations of false claims submitted to Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs between 2007 and 2009.
The hospital and former parent company, Catholic Health Initiatives, finalized a settlement agreement Thursday with the federal government and Maryland regarding unnecessary “short stays” at the hospital.
