Senate Finance Committee considers minimum wage increase
A bill that would increase Maryland's minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10 by 2015 is being considered by the Senate Finance Committee, the Associated Press reported, as outlined by WBFF Fox45-TV.
Supporters of the measure say higher wages would increase consumer spending in the state and inject millions of dollars into Maryland's economy. Opponents say a hike would lead to higher consumer prices and possible layoffs.
