Port of Baltimore discovers invasive beetle in celery seed shipment
Beetlemania, unfortunately, has returned to the Port of Baltimore.
A shipment of celery seed from India was found infested with dead Khapra Beetles at the Port of Baltimore. U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents found the dead insects in a container holding a 500 bag, 55,000 pound shipment of celery seed on Feb. 7.
Details on how many dead beetle carcasses were found inside the celery shipment were not disclosed.
