Pediatric surgeon Carson catapulted into national political arena

Johns Hopkins' famed pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson has become a national political entity following his in-your-face criticism of Barack Obama's health care overhaul as keynote speaker earlier this month at the National Prayer Breakfast, the Baltimore Sun reported Monday.

But Carson, who plans to retire from surgery in June, says he has no interest in running for office but will use his new exposure to urge common sense and bipartisanship in dealing with the nation's problems.
