Over The Rhine On World Cafe
Tue, 17 May 2011 14:00:00 -0400
Formed in 1989, Over The Rhine features a married couple — bassist/pianist Linford Detweiler and classically trained lead singer Karin Bergquist. The band developed considerable popularity in its hometown of Cincinnati early on, an impressive feat considering how uncategorizable its music is (Detweiler and Bergquist call it "post-nuclear, pseudo alternative, folk-tinged art-pop")
The duo's discography now holds 14 albums, including this year's The Long Surrender (2011). Hear Over The Rhine perform three songs from the album during this session, then check out the web exclusive "Days Like This."
