O'Malley floats penny hike to Maryland gas tax
Gov. Martin O’Malley on Wednesday floated the idea of adding a penny to the state’s gas tax to help pay for needed transportation projects in Maryland.
O’Malley’s comments came in Annapolis on Wednesday at the Baltimore Business Journal’s Annapolis Summit.
Upping the sales tax by a penny would raise about $700 million a year for needed transportation projects, O’Malley told radio host Marc Steiner, whose WEAA co-sponsored the event at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis.
