Obama to nominate Elisse Walter as SEC head

President Barack Obama will designate Securities and Exchange Commissioner Elisse Walter to head the agency after SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro announced her intention to step down on Dec. 14, the Washington Business Journal reported.

Walter returned to the SEC in 2009 and served briefly as acting chairman after executive positions at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and its predecessor, the National Association of Securities Dealers. She served as a deputy director at the SEC for 17 years…
