O’Malley: Gun bill ‘about public safety’ 

While hundreds of gun-rights advocates protested on Lawyers Mall outside the State House, Gov. Martin O’Malley pressed lawmakers Wednesday to pass legislation requiring the training and licensing of handgun owners and the banning of semi-automatic assault weapons.
