Nearly half of Md. workers lack paid sick leave, advocates charge
Three Baltimore groups that advocate for workers are launching a campaign to force Maryland employers to offer paid sick leave, the Baltimore Sun reported Monday.
According to estimates from the Institute for Women's Policy Research, 40 percent of the state's private-sector workers -- nearly 820,000 individuals -- have no option to take time off from work with pay if they are ill, The Sun reported.
