Montgomery County aims to expand water quality fee to businesses

A bill before the Montgomery County Council would mean that businesses may soon have to start paying a new charge to keep county water quality up to par, the Washington Examiner reported.

The bill would slightly change who is required to pay the Water Quality Protection Charge, which helps the county operate storm water management facilities. Businesses could pay between $34 to $171 per year, based on their square footage.
