Marylander wins $2M Powerball prize

Drawing reached fever pitch in Maryland; $9.45 million in tickets sold in one day

Marylanders were buying $2 Powerball tickets at an average of 569,000 per hour Wednesday as the jackpot climbed to $550 million. And, while all those hopefuls lost out to out-of-state ticket holders, one local woman landed the second-tier prize of $2 million, lottery officials said.
