Maryland jobs training program passes House, heads to O'Malley

The Maryland House of Delegates on Tuesday passed legislation creating a new jobs training program backed by Gov. Martin O’Malley, sending the measure to O’Malley’s desk for his signature.

The legislation creates the Maryland Employment Advancement Right Now program, or EARN. The program will bring together business, state and local governments and nonprofits to create training programs that will help prepare people for jobs in high-demand fields such as biotech and manufacturing.
