Legislation would pave way for Garrett County hospital expansion

State Sen. George Edwards and Delegate Wendell Beitzel have introduced legislation that would make it easier for Garrett County to borrow money to fund the expansion of Garrett County Memorial Hospital, the Cumberland Times-News reported.

The legislation would allow county commissioners to borrow up to $15 million on behalf of the hospital by issuing bonds. Groundbreaking on the $23.5 million project is expected this spring.
