Lawmakers promote raising of Maryland's minimum wage

Two Maryland lawmakers are promoting a plan to raise the state's minimum wage to $10 an hour, which would make it one of the highest in the country, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Senate Majority Leader Robert J. Garagiola, a Montgomery County Democrat, and Del. Aisha Braveboy of Prince George's County are pushing the plan. At present, the nation's highest minimum wage is $10.55 an hour in San Francisco.
