The body of William Donald Schaefer lies in state in the Rotunda of the state capitol in Annapolis at this hour. Tomorrow, it will be transported to City Hall in his beloved Baltimore, where thousands are expected to file past his casket to pay their final respects to Charm City’s tireless cheerleader. His funeral on Wednesday will come a day after one final motorcade that will wind its way through the city he is credited with saving through the sheer will of his personality and his motto: “Do-It-Now.” The following is a longer version of a profile that ran last week on WYPR.
