Johns Hopkins medical school drops to No. 3 in U.S. News rankings

Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine dropped to No. 3 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 list of the top medical programs in the country.

The school climbed back to No. 2 on last year’s list after slipping to third in 2011.

On the latest list, released Tuesday, Hopkins ranks behind Harvard University (No. 1) and Stanford University (No. 2) as the top institutions for medical research.

The University of Maryland School of Medicine ranks No. 37 on the U.S. News list.
