Maryland’s minimum wage currently stands at $7.25 an hour. Tipped workers here take home at least $3.63 an hour — the minimum cash wage — plus their tip income, and if their tip income does not bring them to minimum wage, employers are required to pay them the difference.

A General Assembly proposal — Senate Bill 683 crossfiled with House Bill 1204 — would increase the minimum wage to $10 per hour and increase the minimum cash wage to 70 percent of that, or $7.
