Feds deny appeal for third Calvert Cliffs nuclear reactor

The commissioners of the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Monday upheld an NRC panel’s earlier decision to reject a license for a proposed third nuclear reactor at Calvert Cliffs in Southern Maryland.

The five-member commission decided not to overturn an August decision by the agency’s Atomic Safety and Licensing Board which denied a license to subsidiaries of UniStar Nuclear Energy LLC on foreign ownership grounds.
